UCI MatSci is a student run organization representing both graduate and undergraduate materials science engineering students. Founded in 2006, it represents five of the preeminant materials societies in the United States.

Originally the UCI chapter of The American Society of Materials (ASM), UCI MatSci has diversified, adding affiliations with The Materials Research Society (MRS), The Association for Iron and Steel Technology (AIST), The Minerals, Metals and Materials Society (TMS) and The American Ceramics Society (ACerS).
